Improve Literacy Instruction and Better Meet the Unique Needs of Every Student

Literacy ReclaimEd is a no-cost, grant-funded professional development opportunity that addresses the achievement gap in elementary literacy for students with specific language variations. This initiative equips second- through fifth-grade classroom educators to improve literacy instruction and better meet the unique needs of their students. UnboundEd is currently recruiting schools to participate in this initiative during the 2026-2027 and 2027-20208 school years. Learn why Literacy ReclaimEd exists in our new blog, "Building Bridges, Removing Barriers."

From Home to Classroom Using Home Language to Strengthen Literacy Instruction

UnboundEd's Next Webinar: Wednesday, March 4

Students develop complex language systems long before they enter school. Research in sociolinguistics and the science of reading shows literacy instruction is strongest when it builds on home language rather than replacing it. This webinar will explore a research-backed strategy for strengthening literacy outcomes through authentic literacy partnerships with families. The session reframes families as linguistic experts and examines how intentional home-to-classroom connections support metalinguistic awareness, dialect shifting, and academic language development.
